Electrical cross talk of a frequency division multiplexing readout for a transition edge sensor bolometer array

We have characterized and mapped the electrical cross talk (ECT) of a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) system with transition edge sensor (TES) bolometer array, which is intended for space applications. By adding small modulation at 120 Hz to AC bias voltage one measuring response in current noise spectra others simultaneously, we first time ECT level 61 pixels nominal spacing 32 kHz × matrix carrier ranging from 1 MHz 4 MHz. find that about 94% show an less than 0.4%. Only adjacent reach this level, rest 0.1%. also observe higher levels, up 10%, between some pixels, bundled long, parallel coplanar wires connecting TES bolometers inductor–capacitor filters. In case, high mutual inductances dominate. To mitigate source ECT, should be replaced by microstrip array. Our study suggests FDM can relatively low e.g., around 0.4% if 30 kHz. results successfully demonstrate technology.
